Launch of IPP Solidarity Movement campaign. To fight for retrospective justice for IPP prisoners

Today is the launch of my new IPP Campaign “IPP Solidarity Movement”, I am now a remote campaigner that will be collaborating with other IPP Campaigns to fight for a full retrospective end to the IPP sentence.

My name is Bernadette Emerson I am a longstanding campaigner, and formally co-founder of IPP Committee In Action with effect from the 22/10/25.

My previous work fighting for IPPs, was promoting public awareness of the IPP scandal through media and minister meetings, petitioning the MOJ, serving open letters on the MOJ, fighting on behalf of IPPs and assisting them with their cases, arranging protests, researching the contested PD (personality disorder) and IPP Action Plan, to bring the scandal of it to light and I had remotely brought about the WGAD (working group on arbitrary detention) UN complaint on the 14/07/24, after my IPP loved one’s case had secured the international barrister’s involvement, to take the IPP on through the WGAD at the UN, which I then took to IPP Committee in action in 2024 and invited other campaigners to be part of the complaint to unite the voice and fight.

I worked extremely hard for a year on the complaint along with international barristers and other campaigners. And then served the official 30 page WGAD complaint on the UK Government on the 11/09/25. Along with the international barrister, peers of the Government and other IPP Campaigners .

My new remote campaign will continue that work and fight for the retrospective justice for IPP prisoners.
